Stupid Flu

I've been sick for about two weeks now. Most of the real flu symptoms were front-loaded (chills, back ache, rice krispie lung noises) and passed pretty quickly, but I seem to be stuck in "fatigue and general GI malaise" for a while now, and it is annoying me. Work is being sympathetic as I keep declaring more sick days / work-from-home days (because even when exhausted, sitting on the couch with a laptop is something I can do) but I would really like to be done with this.

It throws off my personal self-image quite a bit, too. I don't need a lot of sleep, and I am not very picky about (and like!) food. But now neither of them is true!

Also, [livejournal.com profile] mjperson has just as much trouble with lunch when I'm not there as I do with lunch when he's not there, so that's two people with trouble eating.

Blah! I've been sick for a couple weeks too -- cold, not flu, but still with lingering head/ear congestion, and it finally occurred to me that my equally-lingering case of the Don't Wannas might also be related. Which is why I took to my bed all this afternoon.

Feel better!

Wait, you too? That sounds a lot like my current illness! Do you have a diagnosis? My doctor's baffled.

I admit, I was assuming it was flu, and when I emailed my doctor about it, he seemed to think this was plausible and to not worry unless it continued to not get better (which I guess it hasn't for you for much longer :-\ )

I actually had a cold-like thing that developed right after the cruise, followed by a stomach thing (worse than my usual) which is still lingering. Which is why I'm curious as to whether it's the same thing you have.

That could be the same thing, then - I got mine probably a week after we got back. Jerry had a wussier version a few days later than me, but he's mostly over it now. Not that this gives you a diagnosis, but I was hungry today, which I haven't been for a while, so there is hope!

I hope you shake the last of it soon!

(Being picky about food when you're sick doesn't count against your rep. :-)

One of the people who had the illness that went through w91 (sounds much like that one) had a lab-diagnosed flu. It seemed to hit vaccinated and unvaccinated alike.

Bleah, get well, both of you. Don't know what else to say except to send happy recover-y-type vibes your collective way.

I had sort of assumed that when all three of you were sick at the same time shortly after coming back from the cruise, that you'd caught some sort of Cruise Flu. (akin to the Show Flu or Game Flu or Con Flu.)

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Would chicken soup be useful?
