Hah! I have defeated the Replay TV in combat, and it finally believes in the new cable renumbering. No more recording Home and Garden TV and labelling it "Law and Order." (I think it's a particularly mean trick to renumber your cable channels right during season premieres).

The battle would have gone faster had it not taken twenty minutes to try any particular configuration. Even the Mailman UI isn't quite that exasperating.
