Spiral Socks
Jul. 2nd, 2008 10:06 amThis is the second set of socks I've made from New Pathways by Cat Bordhi. I'm starting to understand the basics of the "the increases can go anywhere!" concept, but I admit that I just don't find toe-up heels nearly as intuitive as cuff-down heels yet (which is funny, because geometrically, a heel is really pretty symmetric). I like the spiraling increases a lot; it looks very smooth and tidy. Speaking of tidy, though, I think it might have looked better to have the spiral cross a few rows above the heel, rather than right at the top of the heel flap, but maybe that's just me.
I really liked playing with this yarn (Ithaca from Pigeonroof Studios on etsy), which had a new piece of color every couple of inches, but I'm not sure what the pattern is that would show it off properly. Maybe something like the Crystal Lattice socks, with the longer slipped stitches.
