Fuzzy Kimono
Dec. 26th, 2013 03:13 pmSweater finished! This was an odd project -
kelkyag aquired some Fluffy Teal Mohair that I was looking at askance and trying to fend off, until
desireearmfeldt said "ooh! you could make this out of it. The original is silk-and-alpaca, very drapey; the teal mohair is, well, mohair, not drapey at all and very Fluffy. But just because I wouldn't wear a fuzzy fluffy kimono sweater doesn't mean it's a bad thing - I wouldn't wear those wiggle-toe running shoes either, and Andrea likes those too.
It took a while to get the gauge right - I had to drop two needle sizes, and I'm not usually a loose knitter, but mohair is weird. And then I started to panic that there wouldn't be enough yarn, but it turned out to be just enough (cables are very yarn-consuming, so my initial estimates are off). Since it was an Unknown Mystery Yarn, I didn't really know how much I was working with, so I did a lot of comparing to other skeins of approximately the same size.
Anyway. Technically not done by Christmas, but definitely done in the time frame in which I am managing to give out Christmas presents.
