Every time I make a pair of Fiesta Feet, I get to re-derive the relationship of the directions to the real socks. (Why are the stitches divided on the needles so oddly? I think it's to make the floats behave less badly at the needle breaks, but I'm not sure. The ankle is always looser than the foot, but decreasing less on the gusset makes the top and bottom unbalanced... that sort of thing). Also, I need to keep re-learning the lesson of "make the color and the base contrast, not go together". I have a second skein of this Koigu yarn, so I'll have to waffle between pairing it with a light or dark color, not a medium grey...

I actually really like this color combination. It's very mellow, and has those pretty muted blues and yellows. It's a nice go-with-lots-of-your-clothes sock color.

What she said. :) It's also calm enough to wear and not have your socks be the loudest part of your outfit, which while fun isn't always suitable.

It's true, they're more tame. But I figure if you want tame socks you can wear to work, fiesta feet is the wrong starting point, because bobbles are kind of wacky no matter what color they're in. :)

Grey-and-pastel bobbles, while wacky, don't leap out at the observer quite as aggressively as bright yellow or purple stripes.

Actually, I still think it's a very nice subtle effect.
