Bit of Surreal
Aug. 13th, 2010 09:49 amThis morning, on the T, there was a man playing the ukulele. Not like a performing musician with a hat, but like an accompanist missing his solo. It was strummed chord progressions, like you'd expect from a singer, or maybe as part of a musical group, not an instrumental solo.
The ukulele player got off at Central, and walked up Mass Ave, still playing. I eventually crossed the street for N42, and as I kept walking (keeping an eye on the Mysterious Ukulelist), about by the MIT museum, I heard someone behind me start to sing.
For a moment, I was sure I was in the opening for some sort of music video, of these varied parts of a band all coming together from different directions, taking the bus or the T or walking or driving or bicycling, all converging in some central location to start their song.
Except it wasn't the same song and I don't live in a music video, and then the ukulelist went into the Novartis building across the street.

Well, today's rehearsal was a good one in that we shook out some of the mistakes.
We look forward to your life re-evaluation when we do the actual performance.
