Whee! I've been working on this for a while, finally blocked now. The color is hard to capture - sort of a smokey dark-grey-blue. It's for [livejournal.com profile] tallou and [livejournal.com profile] jofish22, who if I have set this up correctly cannot see this entry, so it should stil be a surprise when they unwrap it.

!!!

Is this the rose pattern you've done before? It looks different, but perhaps that's the color rather than the pattern.

The pattern is Lyra, like this one (http://web.mit.edu/boojum/Pix/Knit/Lace/tn/lyra.jpg.html), not Tudor rose like this one (http://web.mit.edu/boojum/Pix/Knit/Lace/Rose/tn/rose2-1.jpg.html). Tudor Rose is an actual Serious Tablecloth; Lyra is more like a large end table doily.

Yeah, the Tudor Rose is the one I was thinking of. Would it be difficult to do fewer leaf-level repeats on the Tudor Rose to make it a less huge project? (Which is not to say that Lyra isn't cool, too.)

Oops, I have mis-named it, it's officially called "Rose of England". But yeah, the actual pattern even comes in two sizes, tablecloth and tea cloth - here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/11852132@N04/2643872804) is someone's tea cloth. (The tea cloth has a more interesting outer border, too).
