(Okay, I've noticed that I use "bits and pieces" for my subject whenever it contains lots of little things. The first time I repeated it, I was embarassed. Now, I'm going to embrace the repetiveness and declare it a Theme.)

[livejournal.com profile] harrock and I went to the candlelight vigil at the State House on Wednesday supporting gay marriage. Too crowded to spot [livejournal.com profile] tirinian (or anyone else we knew). Crowded, and cold, and an interesting excercise in not setting your neighbor on fire. I try to believe I'm being helpful, in adding my delta of one here and there, but it's a bit of a leap of faith. (I'm one of those people who doesn't believe in my vote mattering, though I dutifully go and vote anyway). Looking at the roll call votes, I don't think I could tell any longer who the good guys are; I'm too confused to tell which votes I need to approve or disapprove of.

(Brief advertising plug: Candles for the candlelight vigil donated by Aunt Sadie's General Store.)

Thursday, I skipped Deadlands to try and not succumb to a cold that Wednesday was trying to give me. Seems to have succeeded. Alas, because it sounds like a good dose of horror in need of a mad plan (the generation of which seems to have become my personal job - as well as any kissing that needs doing).

Friday was Conflux. Werewolves (more or less bad) and vampires (more or less good) and more Wild Card Virus shapeshifts (except for me). I feel terribly sorry for Dracula, stuck with Renfield. Happily, I didn't have to get myself shot in the line of duty to arrange to take a month off to go to Faerie to rescue Jamie's vampire girlfriend from Sauron, because the NSA is willing to pretend I'm off working for them, as long as I bring them back a surveillance report on Faerie. I imagine Cobra Bubbles is going to be displeased to find that Summer's skipped off on his parental obligations, but Summer can no doubt deal with that when we get back, and maybe he won't be a yuan-ti by that point. (Plot summaries of Conflux always sound insane.)

Saturday was Oath - the party finally got to acquire the Hegemonicon, which they've been wondering about all season. Much to their surprise, that wasn't the plot, they just went to the asteroid and picked it up (though gleaning all the information it has will take time and skill points). The actual plot was to deal with the "criminal mastermind" (a nano-linked criminal groupmind), which had burgled the Hippocrates as a step towards stealing the Red Hegemony's flagship. The plot started with people waking up after having been beaten up and amnesia-drugged, so the first part was "what happened to us, and why have two days passed?" followed up eventually by a pretty hard fight with the bad guys (hard fights good! They aren't scared often enough...). [livejournal.com profile] mjperson and I were a little worried that being defeated off screen (during the commercial break) would annoy our (sometimes easily annoyed) players, but it seems to have gone well enough and been interesting.

Of course, the fact that they puttered pretty hard on the way to the plot meant that the run lasted until close to 9, which is when I had said I'd be to [livejournal.com profile] jadia's birthday cake. Happily, they were still caking at 11, after the post-run dinner, so we got to hang about there for a while until being defeated by tiredness.

Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] baronet and sophia stopped by in their open-house house-wandering, and lured harrock and I into more open-house-wandering. We went to the Dream House on 152 Summer Street (the one I've been ogling for months from the outside), and discovered that it's far more worth ogling from the inside.

Being mostly straight, my lust tends to be reserved for guys. But wow, what a house worth lusting after. Who knew that sort of thing lived in the same emotional space of the heart as the unattainable crush?

The vatican squooshing meeting went pretty well - there are still some plots we don't have a handle on, and mechanics? still a big black box. But it's early yet, and it finally feels like it's becoming a game, as opposed to a pile of ideas all higgledy-piggledy. Atmosphere is still a little schizophrenic, though, and doesn't take into account the phenomenon that everything gets about 10% more silly when you add players.

Ahah, putting in "ignore the first vote" makes it all make more sense.

(I wasn't there the day of the votes, just the night before).
