This was a very fast project -
pekmez remarked about wanting at hat on the 27th, and lo, it is done!
I hadn't used this yarn before, I picked it up on one of the yarn shop crawls in the Frozen Midwest. It has a dark fuzzy halo surrounding a lighter shiny core (see pictures here for examples). Knit up, the shine is a little less clear, which is disappointing - it looks tweedy instead - but it might be more interesting in strong sunlight, which today does not have. This is my favorite pattern for cabled hats - most of them are just plain twists going straight up, but the cables here wander around very organically. (They don't follow the over/under rules, but
I forgive them).

Date: 2011-11-02 02:14 pm (UTC)I thought of you when we visited my grandmother - she knits too and was showing off her sweaters and sweater vests to us. She doesn't use patterns (!!). She has this new scarf she likes to knit with a loop in it so you can pull one end through the other to have it stay there.
