Copper Silk, Black Dress

I bought a black dress to wear with the copper shawl I made! I am not sure this is the right way one is supposed to deal with accessories, but it's not like I have an overabundance of dresses. Well, possibly I do compared to the dresses I ever wear. Anyway. The dress code for [livejournal.com profile] chanaleh's birthday party was "fabulous (or comfortable)" so that seemed like an excuse to wear it, since [livejournal.com profile] rifmeister isn't holding proms any more.

Please note that these are not my black sneakers, they are actual dress flats... it seems unfair that they still look like sneakers in the picture.

I'm only a programmer but I believe the traditional way to deal with matching is by cascading so an accessory matches a main piece matches a different accessory demands a handbag and so on, until you fill your house.

Hee. I only have one handbag, though, so that part isn't working. But I have a whole bajillion of knitting bags, which helps fill the house. :)

You look so elegant!

Thank you! I always worry a little that lace shawls will be grandmotherly rather than elegant, but maybe that's only if they are fluffy and pink. :)

I also think one's shawls need to be rather heavier and less lacy to look grandmotherly.

But now you have a little black dress that will go with pretty much any awesome accessory you like, including the copper shawl. That seems like a fine outcome.

Yay looking fabulous while wearing one's favorite shiny things!

It looks really nice. I love the dress, too, the neckline is fabulous.

I rather like the back neckline of the dress in combination with that shaw. The pattern looks like tiny little buttons going up to your neck!

Felicitations on dressing-up occasions!

I loved it! I thought you BOTH looked truly fabulous.

And I think buying a black dress to go with the shawl was an entirely reasonable step to take. *nods sagely*
