Last night, [livejournal.com profile] harrock and I took the carpet out of the entry hall in the new house. [livejournal.com profile] tirinian helped a little, but there's only so much grunge work one can ask of someone wearing a suit.

Most of the wood looks good. The front door is a little ratty - I think there were issues with rain coming under the door, soaking into the draft-blocking-snake and from thence into the carpet by the door. Probably better to deal with now (and get a taller door, perhaps) than to have not noticed, and left it to molder. I think it'll look okay to have the entry way uncarpeted and the living room carpeted, though we may have to have [livejournal.com profile] ilhander over for an official consult.

However, today I'm low-grade sore all over, especially in the plier-crunching muscles in my hand. Ah well - if I alternate work days and play days, perhaps it will go okay.

I've been playing phone tag loop with a contractor (at least he called back! Even if it was my work number at 8pm, I find that promising...) - I think I'll be a little less fretful if the contractor-requiring work can either be nailed down and scheduled, or we determine that one can't actually get a contractor inside of a month. :)

This is just the sort of thing that I want to be roped into!

Tonight and tomorrow night will likely involve Steam Cleaning and Cabinet Inside Painting and Shelf-Papering, if you want to be roped into those. :)

(And pondering whether doing the lazy thing and touching up chipped paint on sills is sufficient)
