My list of chores is mostly done. Two sets of cabinets plus the hall closet painted and shelf papered, the trim in the downstairs and the stairway has been touched up, the carpet is (long) out of the entry hall, the living room carpet is steam cleaned, and the contractor has sent us an estimate on the things that are not (alas) going to get done before we move. Except maybe refinishing the front hall.

And, before [livejournal.com profile] tirinian left was the Great Furniture Shopping Expedition. Jordan's Furniture is crazy. The last time I went to a Jordan's Furniture, it was a furniture store. A beige box with some furniture in it. Now, it's Disneyland. Okay, it's Disneyland with a huge amount of furniture, so that's good, but it's still very disconcerting. And we did not see the Two Guys - very disappointing. The new sofas will be cranberry, which means that they're my fault; if they were purple, they'd be tirinian's.

Shopping with [livejournal.com profile] tirinian and [livejournal.com profile] harrock is strangely mellow. Not because we don't have opinions, but because, I guess, we're pretty good at expressing our opinions tidily. This one is too deep. This one attacks me with a horde of pillows when I sit in it. This one is too much like sitting on a bed, it all bounces when you sit in the corner. This one has two cushions, which is Wrong - the one true number of cushions is three. So it's easy to cross out things that are Not the One, and then when you encounter a sofa you don't cross out, you either say "yes, this is better" or "no, I like the other one better." And while we don't all cross out the same things, our areas of contentment are large and overlapping enough that it works.

Now, to start packing.

You need to do before and after pictures, like on Queer Eye...

Ooh, I should take an after picture for this one:

but once the floor is refinished. You can't see all the nicks in the trim, though, so no one will be impressed by that. :)

It's been very hard to take coherent pictures of rooms - they're all "Here I am, standing in the closet, and I still only get a picture of the far corner..."

Take multiple pictures then paste 'em together in photoshop. It's fun :)
