This place ("Softshape Art") has the most fascinating desktop backgrounds. And it's just this one guy in Siberia, as far as I can tell.

I'd probably think about putting some up as art somewhere, but in the meantime, it's caused me to use completely gratuitous transparent xterms at work.

Today is the start of the Weekend of Mad Cooking (in that involves all the Mad Shopping). Fourteen things to make (including [livejournal.com profile] justom's soup recipe that required making scallion oil in advance, and still requires making mushroom ragout garnish. So that should count as two...). It'll be fun.

  • Roasted-garlic celeriac soup with wild mushroom ragout (justom's Blue Ginger cookbook)
  • Caponata (Olives)
  • Bagna Cauda (word of mouth)
  • White lasagna (Epicurious)
  • Green Beans w/ Orange Essence (Cooks)
  • German Potato Salad (Best Recipes)
  • Crab & Cucumber Slaw Salad (Olives)
  • Creamed Corn & Bread pudding (Olives)
  • Rhubarb agrodolce chicken (Olives)
  • Mahogany Beef Stew (Epicurious)
  • Pasta w/ Smoked Salmon (Epicurious)
  • Ginger crunch shortbread (Epicurious)
  • Trifly thing with dulce de leche and other pudding
  • Apple Cornmeal Tart Thing (Olives Dessert)

The art really is pertty neat. I like the "They Stole the Moon" one a lot. Especially the cute little arrow pointing it out. And the little kid who couldn't reach the moon but was trying.

me too!

"They stole the moon" is the one I have on my desktop background at home! :)
