Weekend Stuff
Apr. 4th, 2005 11:49 amSaw Dead White Males on Saturday - directed by our receptionist in N42, so I think there's been a pretty good IS&T turnout. But good heavens, what a bitter play! Apparently a lot of it is anecdotal from real schools, so that explains some of the characters shifting about. I liked the actor who played the principal the best - a tiny-souled man, happily proud of his PA announcements, eventually trying to battle his own demons, but too incompetent to battle both demons and opposition at the same time...
Also on Saturday, I went to a "listener panel" at WERS for Standing Room Only. There was some confusion as to whether or not they should let me in or not, as I wasn't on the List. And "Well, no, I didn't actually talk to anyone myself, my housemate did, but then someone at WERE sent mail to me thinking that I had talked to them and was coming, although the mail bounced and I only got a copy because someone else in the email forwarded it to me anyway" didn't seem like it would be a useful explanation. In any event, I got let in eventually through sheer force of harmlessness.
justom, arriving after me but also not on the List, appears to have had less trouble in customs. Anyhow, we did our best to suggest "don't play the same song from a show for lots of weekends in a row" (and I did my best to stamp out "My New Philosophy"), but other than that we were pretty happy. (Of course, they selected based on people who donate to the program, so they're likely to get people who are pretty happy.
Also on Saturday was Kye's "More Ravs than Anyone Could Possibly Eat" which was fun. The scallions always ring twice.
Sunday was a little less scheduled. Saw Steamboy, which was very pretty, a bit alien, full of explosions, and generally fun. We did also see a preview for a movie that
