Sniffles

So, due to running out of yarn a few rows from the end (augh!) of my current knitting project, it seemed time to do some smaller catch-up projects. Fixed [livejournal.com profile] chenoameg's sock, knit the widget [livejournal.com profile] ilhander wanted, decided maybe it was time to put together one of the unpieced sweaters that has been sitting, unpieced, for years. (I hate sewing things together. So sweaters for me never get all the way finished. It's stupid...) Anyway, due to the sitting for years, there was some dust. And then I started sniffling. So it was clearly an allergic-to-dust reaction, and I went on a rampage through the bedroom, vacuuming and dusting and airing things out. But I was still sneezy and sniffly. Argh! Bah! Cursed dust! Why did it gather in the bedroom - just to torment me?

Anyway, it eventually became clear that it isn't dust, I'm just coming down with a cold. And though that seems equally annoying, it makes me much less angry. Weird. :)

It's a sneaky time of the year for colds. It always seems like it's allergies until bam -- it turns out it's a cold.

Heh, I have the same problem with finishing projects. Maybe we need to form a support group.

You could trade finishing work with someone; other people's messes are often much simpler to clean than one's own, and some picky project details follow the same pattern.

Trading my finishing for someone else's finishing wouldn't help so much; my biggest reason to dislike finishing is that it takes all my attention and thus is Work, in contrast to the actual knitting, which only takes partial attention and thus is soothing. I'd totally trade my finishing for something else (maybe pay a finisher in socks!), though. :)

I might take you up on finishing for socks. :)

I owe you finishing for that mad patchwork blanket kit, but that can be turned into finishing for something else if you decide you want to do something different with the yarn. :)

Uh, just so you know, there's a CHANGE in the air these past two weeks and every asthma sufferer I know (or am related to) has succumbed....

Hmm, well colds go away after about a week, whereas allergies are pesky somewhat indefinitely...

You know a cold isn't your fault, but you have a sneaky way of blaming yourself for the dust.

Or, you thought you could control the situation with your orgiastic cleansing, but were angry when you thought your inadequate cleaning powers were the problem. It's a relief to discover that your powers aren't inadequate.
