Well, except I mostly like them because of World of Warcraft, where I loooove killing them.

"You're very clever, young man, very clever," said the old lady. "But it's turtles all the way down!"

'The Peaks Traveller and Gazette - "...a hermitage occupied by a lunatic since twenty years without discourse or companion save for a pet tortoise, Plautus by name, which he suffers children to touch on request; a tortoise. They must be a feature." ' (Arcadia) (Do tortoises count, or are we only talking turtles?)

Holden: Maybe you're fed up. Maybe you want to be by yourself. Who knows? You look down and see a tortoise, Leon. It's crawling toward you...

Leon: Tortoise? What's that?

Holden: You know what a turtle is?

Leon: Of course!

Holden: Same thing.

“I couldn’t afford to learn it,” said the Mock Turtle with a sigh. “I only took the regular course.”

“What was that?” inquired Alice.

“Reeling and Writhing, of course, to begin with,” the Mock Turtle replied; “and then the different branches of Arithmetic—Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision.”

'Cause the water has started to turn brown
I tried to bask upon my brick
They turned the heat lamp off too quick
And my diet makes me sick
It's only frozen mice and crick-

I liked them better before the idea of getting one as a pet was floated. :S

Are they in your refrigerator?

Nope. :)

(This was a reaction to an article that claimed that turtles were as a whole much less disliked than dogs or cats, and that "everyone has a soft spot in their heart for turtles." I seemed to be the only person on white-magic who doesn't particularly care about turtles, so I was curious if I was in as much a minority as was suggested.)

Turtles are certainly less potentially offensive than cats or dogs, because they're low key and live in a tank. :)

Sure, but small rocks are also low key and inoffensive, and while some people did have soft spots in their hearts for pet rocks, I don't think they got to the 70% approval rate. :)

Turtles are great, but I hear a PlayStation is even better.

Then there is the question: what kind of animal would a PlayStation3 be worth?
