Detroit Vacation!

Here we are in scenic Detroit! This is not where we were going, but it is where we are. I hear there is a zoo, with walk-through kangaroos. And, disconcertingly, there is a tunnel south to Canada. Canada oughtn't to be to the south of us, but we are in a Strange Place.

Next, we go to Milwaukee! This is also not where we were going, but it is now on the way to Minneapolis, apparently.

But we get free breakfast! And first class upgrades! Whee!

My goodness, that sounds overly exciting. Happy travels!

An adventure, yippee! Hope you enjoy it, which it sounds as if you are!

Hey, I know that tunnel! I had a classmate who used to drive through it every day on the way to school.

Also, if you like ginger ale, you should try Vernor's, which is only available in the Midwest.

I hope you avoid walking through any kangaroos. Igh. :)

Wow. Was it the weather gods (or maybe the travel gods) who sent you to Detroit? The airplane which was boarding next to us and was headed to Denver was canceled just before our flight started boarding and everyone was told that there were no more flights to Denver for a week. Luckily our flight wasn't impacted at all.

Northwest sent us to Detroit intentionally; the weather gods and the mechanical problems gods conspired to make us not get in until midnight, long after our connection had left. :)

Then, the best we could do was a flight the next day from Detroit to Milwaukee to Minneapolis, but we're finally there!

(After a surreal experience after landing in Minneapolis, where they couldn't get the docking platform to drive far enough to connect to the plane, for a good twenty minutes.)

I suppose there's a lot of power, but something's not quite as glamorous about being a mechanical problems god.

Speaking of tunnels...

the airport has (or at least had) a cool tunnel (http://www.flickr.com/photos/25661597@N00/331298807/) too. First class upgrades are nice too.
