Pictures

Preparatory for the great New Zealand trip, I tried out the whole my camera downlading to [livejournal.com profile] harrock's computer thing on the trip to the Great Frozen Midwest. As one might expect from such a place of wind-swept tundra, I have lots of pictures of Lions and Tigers and Giant Ferns and Giraffes and Poinsettas and the like from our adventures.

You have panorama powers too! Does that come with the camera?

[identity profile] firstfrost.livejournal.com 2006-12-29 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup! It comes with Photostitch software (which should theoretically work with other camera images too), and the camera itself has a setting for taking better panoramas (consistent settings, plus a little floating previous-picture to try to line up with so you don't drift wildly around).

I think it's spelled "poinsettia." Also, as of 2000, 80% of the poinsettias in the world came from one 72-acre farm in California.

In Germany, the cottontop tamarin is called the "Liszt tamarin," because it looks like Franz Liszt.

The fourth Jerry is behind the pyramid.

Oops, so it is. But nope, he is not. (Especially not the little yellow one by the pool).

That's no pyramid. That's one of those Caution: Wet Floor signs (http://www.americanallsafe.com/uplFiles/product/large/24102%20Caution%20Wet%20Floor%20Sign.jpg).

Punkin's eyes

I got the same effect (http://new.photos.yahoo.com/dmodiano/photo/294928804124160952/0) with Fenris. They must belong to the same Illuminati.

Wah. I'm not getting any pictures this morning. :( Nor am I going to NZ, double wah!

Shall have to try back later. :)

Yeah! I'm back later and greatly enjoying your pictures (especially the one you frobbed with and picked to lure us all off.) The "Jerry wants pictures of Punkin" shot shows more eye magic I think, with the dramatic undereye emphasis. It also makes we want a cat, strange as that might sound. (The heart necklace probably doesn't help in that department.)

BTW, I clearly need panoramic softwear. That Conservatory shot was especially cool as I felt as if I were traveling between one half of the shot and the other.

Yeah for posing lionesses. And warm&furry snow leopards. They'd make great holiday cards, even if the poinsettas are more traditional. Oops, speaking of holiday cards, yours is coming home to you with some books you leant me which [livejournal.com profile] chenomeg got to me earlier this month (and a sanity-saver they were indeed! Thanks!)

Punkin is a cat very much designed for making people want cats. She's small and kittenish and playful and affectionate and terribly cute. Even if all of that doesn't come through in the pictures. :)
