More Food and Theater

harrock and I went to OM, which was remarkably good (not in the "I didn't expect much" sense, but in the "wow!" sense). Now, the restaurants I like and the restaurants he likes are often somewhat different; I like the menu entries that have things I've never heard of, with things I'd never think to put together. He likes things that don't sound too scary, and don't have anything resembling mayonnaise. Somehow, they managed to serve me things that I would have never thought to put together, but somehow went together (fish and rice pudding are a perfect match! I had no idea!), and serve harrock things that he didn't leave any bits behind as too weird to eat. Mmmm. They're a little pricey, but definitely worth it.
The show was... hmm. As always, the acting was very good - I especially liked the Artful Dodger, who doubled as the narrator. The story suffered a lot from compression; between that and the fact that the narrator carries a lot of Oliver's actions, it left me with the distinct impression that Oliver himself was an item card, rather than a character. The musical makes him a bit whiny, but at least there he has some lines, because he has to sing. So the whole thing came across less as the Story of Oliver and more as the Story of People Competing to Get Oliver.
