Some role-playing games, more than others, have perfected the art of bitter recriminations. Deadlands is one of the groups that's particularly advanced - we have the chaotics versus the lawfuls, the people who traffic (or are possessed by) evil spirits versus the priest and shaman, the dead people versus the live people, the inveterate liar versus the compulsory truthteller... but aside from the rare high-energy spark, all the sniping and hassling is in good humor. (At least, I think it's in good humor. Perhaps there are secretly seething undercurrents I've missed).

In other games, the bitter recriminations have much more of a pointed edge. I'm not immune from it myself - religious arguments with harrock in Comet have veered closer to actual annoyance than either of us was comfortable with.

I think part of it is how funny the run is. If you're busy laughing at each other already, then it's hard to have a really vicious argument. But the rest is just that some people are more fun to fuss against than others.

"Be Better People" isn't really a useful wish, but it does seem to be the case for many things I care about.
