A couple of weeks ago, an occasional walkin client said he nearly didn't recognize me because I had lost so much weight. (Then he spent the next five minutes getting all apologetic because he thought he'd offended me, oops.). Today, getting my new driver's license, the clerk said I had to take a new picture because I had lost so much weight.

Now, I've lost what I would describe as "some" weight, but certainly not sufficient to call for any superlatives to be attached to it. Not enough that anyone I actually know (including myself) can see it. But total strangers? It's apparently quite obvious to them.

Weird.

I get that about my hair. The comments don't seem to correlate with when I think I've done something noteworthy to my hair, rather when I've done something I consider minor.

Though the "interestingly fluffy" hair was noteworthy, in my opinion. :)

Lost Weight

I've lost some weight too over the last 2 years, but I can't see the difference. It's only 15 pounds, but other people claim that they can see it clearly. I guess I'm just too close to it.

Wacky, but congratulations nonetheless.

(I get complemented on weight loss, whether or not it exists, when I wear certain combinations of shirts and pants. I know which ones, but I'm not quite good enough to figure out how to extend their properties to new pieces of clothing.)

If you decide you want it back, I think I've found some of it.

People who know you better see you more often and don't notice gradual changes?

But then, the last time I had my hair trimmed, nobody noticed for ~2 weeks until the next Madrigal event, when someone I see only at Madrigal events (and had only met ~2 events before) commented on it ...

Maybe people who know you better have a wider range of images of you to compare to?

I think these are definitely both true. But it's still funny. :) (I can see the difference in my license photos, which makes the most recent example make more sense. "I lost fifteen pounds, all from my face!")

Cool that you've lost enough for people to notice. Way to go. :-)
