The original meme is:

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year.
- You have no clue what it's going to be. It might be a photo, or a short story, or a covered dish. I might finally learn how to knit and foist my learning projects off on you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well. We all can make stuff!
My version this time is a little different. The first five* people to respond to this post will get to pick a knit or crochet project of their choice. It goes on my queue and gets finished this year. Between my own database and Ravelry, there are a vast number of choices for what can be made.

Note that there are some people already in the queue:

*: I suppose there's no reason to stop at five, though if the queue gets large enough I stop guaranteeing "this year".

Isn't my sweater on the queue?

Hah! Now you have to be memey too!

Oo, I didn't know I was in the queue, but yay! (I totally do want those socks, and now that you mention them, I remember talking with you about them, although they are not the socks I randomly remember talking/thinking about. :) Anyway, not meaning to be as utterly confusing as this comment probably is, I'll go back to saying "yay!")

Ooh! I was going to get on the queue, but apparently I am already on the queue. I am so confused. And also delighted. (and, er...there are two people on the list for three lace stoles; I don't think the Solomonic solution works for knitted lace.

Well, you're allowed to add other things to the queue if you want something that isn't one of the three (http://web.mit.edu/boojum/Pix/Knit/Sweaters/tn/pacific_stole1.JPG.html) Lace (http://pinklemontwist.blogspot.com/2007/02/hanami.html) Stoles (http://pinklemontwist.blogspot.com/2007/09/swan-lake.html) in question. :)

(I figured I'd keep one of them for myself, so then it divides evenly, if I assume that everyone prefers a different one, which is a vast leap of optimism on my part...)

I would prefer to have your favorite, but would settle for Andrea's favorite? Unless they're the same one, in which case, bonus!

Oooh, the assymetric ones are cool. More mad plans! (I am not signing up for a lace stole, having done that already. Mmmm, baby alpaca.)

I missed this meme last time it went around, but I'm feeling particularly motivated for making things so might as well sign on with the most talented knitter I know (oh, was that flattery? Completely accidental I assure you!)...

So me!

Okay! :)

Is there a particular thing, or a sort of thing, that you want?

can I be greedy and add something else on to the queue? And, did your package arrive safely?

From: [identity profile] firstfrost.livejournal.com
Yup, you're allowed to add more things to the queue. That's what queues are for!

And yes, it did, thank you!
I opened it when I was sort of sleep-deprived and then put it in the "bring this to work to put on my computer" place, where I then forgot about it for a week, so it is good that you said something. :}

hurray! well, I'd like to request a button front vest for my mom, who's really tiny, and usually cold. She can never find anything her size, and I was telling her about your amazing knitting-fu after my chocobo arrived, and she was all, "hmm, do you think she might knit a vest for me?"

Sure! I will send you some possibilities...

I sent a list of potential vests to your alum address, which may or may not be the right place to actually get to you. :)

If there is still space in the queue, I'd love to be on it! I kind of want tall stripey socks, relatively light/thin, with space for my wide calves.

This is assuming that music is a reasonable return offer rather than the making of physical objects...

I think you get to rewrite the meme however you like for your own Making. :)

Something sort of like this?

(Fatter stripes? Thinner stripes? Any preferred colors?)

Ooh, those look awesome! I would lean more towards thinner than fatter stripes, but really anything in that range would be totally great! Color-wise, I like darker and/or richer colors -- blues, purples, blacks, greys, some reds... red/black, purple/black, black/grey, purple/grey, blue/grey, blue/other-blue-or-turquoise are just a few random thoughts of combinations that spring to mind, but I'm sure there are many others that I'd love. :)

(Being a handknit sock, it's not thin the way you'd get from a thin dress sock, but it's fingering-weight yarn rather than thick hiking sock weight...)

Now I'm having fun thinking of what a knitted bunny would look like. I keep thinking of this small ball of fuzz that is small enough to sit in the palm of your hand -- an abstract bunny, as it were. Two things that looks suspiciously like ears, perhaps a hint of a knob of a nose and a tail, and perhaps two dangling strands for whiskers. :)

your abstract bunny is giving you the butt. :)
Alyse has this theory that, since bunnies can't give you the finger, when they get all mad, they give you the butt. Empirical evidence suggests she's correct. :)
