So, I have kind of gotten used to my body neglecting to wake me if I'm over-hot, and giving me a headache instead. Stupid body, but I'm used to it. What I think is terribly unfair of it is sending the warning signals into my dreams. "Oh no! You're putting the colored headache boxes on stage for the wrong play! You have to get them off, but they don't fit backstage, so you have to keep swapping them around!" I eventually wake up from the dream, frustrated that I couldn't stack the headache boxes correctly and sure if I had just been more competent at it, I wouldn't have a headache. Plus, there's the persistent feeling that the fix is not "get a cold washcloth and take some Advil" but "get the damn boxes stacked properly", and that just doesn't help.
Bah.
Bah.

Date: 2007-07-19 05:16 am (UTC)I get similar things in regards to the waking up and being *convinced* that I *need* to do XYZ when in fact, all I really need to do is switch to the lighter blanket and maybe turn on the fan. Even though my (barely) conscious rational self knows it's a dream, my entire being *wants* to do the dream thing.
Though I don't get the cool semi-lucid hints that you do. 'Headache boxes', wow! :-)
crazy dreams
Date: 2007-07-19 02:11 pm (UTC)It is a superbly annoying dream, as I might hunt 3-5 times. But I finally realized that I needed to wake myself up and actually use the bathroom in real life! At least needing to pee is an easily resolved state once awake.
My other weird dream to real life transitiion, was in the middle of a dream I said to someone, it is 8:30 I need to wake up. And it really was 8:30 when I awoke moments later. (and I did need to be awake)

Date: 2007-07-19 02:15 pm (UTC)Dehydration can be a trigger, but so can varying your sleep pattern (sleep late or get up early) And I would believe overheating can bother you. (hormones can trigger headaches all by themselves too)
There are also medicines to take to prevent the headaches. I was on one of those post college years. Of course it is hard to evaluate the effectiveness, since you don't know if lack of headaches is they just aren't happening anymore (mine come and go) or the medicine works.
Anyway, if they really are bothering you, interfering with things, you should go see a Dr.
