Today is probably the busiest day of the year, for my job. Last night, the email notices saying "your account will be deactivated in January" went out to about 6000 people. A large number of these people have objections.

(The second busiest is the day after they actually go away, in which the people who don't pay attention to their email call us to find out what happened to their account. Happily, at MIT, more people read their email than not.)

Whee. :)

You didn't get an email because you actually acknowledged the lert message. This is very rare. :)

Hey, I saw a message that said something about something happening. What can I do?

You were supposed to have answered my email saying "do you still want this account?" (I suppose, not being at MIT any longer, you are drifting farther into the "than not" category...). I will pretend this is an email reply. ;)

pleasepleaseplease

You should already be set, because (unlike [livejournal.com profile] kirosutogomen) you *did* answer my mail. So you shouldn't have gotten the email warning, right?

Oh, sorry, I do think I'm set. I was just making a joke. I didn't realize the other similar messages weren't joke too. :)

Whew. :)

(I've gotten something like a hundred messages like this today, so I didn't even think to wonder if this one wasn't serious! :) I just started poking at all the relevant files to figure out why you *would* have gotten the doom message.)

Actually, mine was supposed to be a joke, too, about the people you mentioned before who don't know how to read.

What -- they aren't deactivated automagically a year after you graduate any more? Hmmmm.... }8-)

See, the clear solution is to just keep enrolling at MIT for more and more degrees, and then your account never gets deactivated!

(actually, I was very sad for the six months I didn't have zephyr access before I came back)

My test account is on the doom list :(
Is there any possibility of getting it off?
